PKO BP: The CNK Planetarium Grand Opening
Warsaw, Poland /
June 2011
Like we mentioned during the Tessenderlo Chemie event (and what the famous Buckminster Fuller used to say on an on), geodesic domes and outer space is a combination as natural and obvious as Copernicus and astronomy, or tents and Freedomes.
No wonder, then, that the event accompanying the opening of the modern “Heavens of Copernicus” Planetarium in the Warsaw Science Centre (also bearing the name of Poland’s most famous astronomer) was honoured by the Freedome F75 dome tent. For the duration of the event, the geodome became the office of Szymon Majewski – the main face of the planetarium’s sponsor.
Although the motto of PKO BP’s campaign is “The world doesn’t revolve around Szymon,” that is exactly what it seemed to revolve around when he was inside the luminous geodome. The remaining attractions included a chance to light-paint on an interactive “graffiti wall” and to take a souvenir “space” picture.
The “Heavens of Copernicus” itself, the highlight, aside from a grand mapping on the planetarium’s walls, is equipped with four impressive digital projectors (each with a resolution of 4 thousand pixels), thanks to which the final effect is amazing. It is thus another stop that has to appear on every itinerary that stars Warsaw. The Freedomes dome tents, owing to the cooperation with the Copernicus Science Centre, are another step closer to space travel.
