Chmielaki Beer Fest
Krasnystaw, Poland /
August 2010
Because of our place on the map of Europe, after all we’re not far from the Czech Republic or Germany which have been associated with beer for ages, Poland doesn’t fall behind and almost every Pole can confirm that. Poland proudly offers the best it has in the field of brewing.
Hops cultivation near the Krasnystaw area reaches the beginnings of the 20th century. No wonder, then, that in the meantime a sort of hops region was formed there which willingly and lavishly celebrates its hops harvest festival called “Chmielaki Krasnostawskie.”
Considering their rich tradition (the first Chmielaki were organised as early as 1971), no wonder that the celebration permanently entered the calendar of national cultural events. Chmielaki combine, in an interesting way, folk traditions with modern attractions, not abandoning its most important role which is being an ambassador of promoting beer culture.
The Freedomes F150 spherical tent also tried not to depart from the ideas lying behind the event and gave every visitor an opportunity to have a beer under quite an unconventional roof which a geodesic dome definitely is.
The Miss Chmielaki beauty contest, concerts, an attempt to beat the Guinness record for the biggest bottle cap pyramid, or Poland’s biggest Consumer’s Beer Contest are just a few of the attractions waiting for those who have decided to personally support Polish beers in the rivalry with the competition.
