Microsoft

May 2011
Katowice, the centre of the Upper Silesian Industrial Region (Górnośląski Okręg Przemysłowy), has rather firmly decided to widen the range of associations with the city and tried to grab both “Polish Silicon Valley” and “Polish Ibiza” for itself. All this because of a multimedia island which Microsoft, together with Freedomes, set up at University of Economics’ open days.
Undoubtedly, the devised tactic was justified, for it’s really hard to have other things on one’s mind lying between tropical trees, drinking refreshing drinks served by hostesses and at the same time testing the latest novelties from Microsoft’s range of gadgets. Inside the Freedome F75 spherical tent, also known during the event as the “exotic island,” the latest smartphones with Windows Phone 7 operating system and XBOX 360 consoles were presented. Using those, thanks to Kinect technology, people could take part in a volleyball tournament.
We admit that the luckiest were all the future students of the University of Economics who visited it during the open days – with such a start prospects seem unlimited.
