Street Performers Carnival
Lublin, Poland /
August 2010
The Street Performers Carnival was Lublin’s biggest cultural event in 2010.
During this free-of-charge event the city’s streets come alive with buskers. Artists from all over Europe performed, including musicians, jugglers, equilibrists and eccentric illusionists. Countless musical, theatrical and circus shows each day, with many parallel stages and gripping street performances constituted a great asset of the festival.
A dome tent of 75 square metres (the Freedome 75), standing on Lithuanian Square, was the central information point for the organised events.
According to the organisers’ assumptions, the Street Performers Carnival is to become Lublin’s flagship event, which reflects the city’s spirituality, authenticity, cultural wealth and, above all, its magical atmosphere. The spherical structure provided by Freedomes fit in perfectly with the organisers’ assumptions. “It’s a dome tent that Lublin has never had before.” - says Agnieszka Oszust of the Chancellery of the Mayor of Lublin.
