Elektrocity Festival
Lubiaz, Poland /
August 2010
Juxtaposing two complete contradictions is always quite a risky endeavour. However, if we consider the fact that the organisers of the ElectroCity festival have 4 years of success behind them, they apparently know what they’re doing.
Modern electronic music resounding within the walls of the world’s second largest monastery – the Cistercian Monastery in Lubiąż – is definitely a unique contrast. Modern Freedomes structures against the background of the “masterpiece of Silesian baroque,” which the abbey undoubtedly is, is an original combination as well. A combination that once again proved to be a bullseye.
The Freedomes dome tents fit in perfectly with the festival’s modern character and only intensified the atmosphere that merges the old with the new. Although the festival’s main attraction were definitely the stages and the artists who performed on them, our spherical structures were of almost equal interest due to offering a chance to drink and eat something.
Considering that the organisers announced the upcoming edition of the festival already in 2010, one can surely say that contrast is the way to go.
